About

Gurez Valley is a slice of heaven at the edge of the world. This remote valley, accessible only in summer, is home to the ancient Dard-Shin people and offers landscapes so dramatic they seem painted - from the legendary Habba Khatoon peak to the roaring Kishanganga River.

Gurez was once part of the ancient Silk Road, serving as a crucial link between Kashmir and Central Asia. The valley is named after the Guraizi language spoken by the indigenous Dard-Shin people, who have preserved their unique culture for millennia.

The valley is dominated by the legendary Habba Khatoon peak, named after a 16th-century Kashmiri poetess whose tragic love story is woven into local folklore. The traditional wooden houses, terraced fields, and warm hospitality make Gurez feel like stepping back in time.
